Okay, I just bought Catwoman #1 on my iPad and read about half. Yes, there is a lot of sexuality, but then again Catwoman is pretty much a sex symbol. Her clothes are half off most of the time and it’s definitely for a mature audience. BUT one thing many people are forgetting is the story. That’s the selling point. Sure, the art is fine and there are many things that are appealing to me in the book (boobs) but the story is what matters. And Catwoman just isn’t cutting it so far. I’ve read many reviews and this book has been panned. CraveOnline gave it s .1/10 (read here and yes, that’s a point one out of ten) and others gave it just as bad reviews. I’ll finish it up but the only thing that’s keeping me going is the gratuitious underwear shots.
For those of you who read Green Lantern, I have a thought concerning the art in the recent new #1. Doug Mahnke has done the art for GL for some time and before now, I’ve been satisfied with it. But the new #1 kinda turned me off with the art. I’ve heard a lot of complaints that the art isn’t detailed and doesn’t feel alive. Any one agree or disagree?
Now that we’re 3 weeks into the new 52, let’s take a moment to think about it. So far I’ve read JLA, Action and Detective Comics, Batgirl, Green Arrow, JLI, Swamp Thing, Green Lantern, and Red Laterns. Everything was good except for Green Arrow. Batgirl and Swamp Thing surprised me with how good they were but Action Comics has me a little iffy. I’m anxious to see what Morrison has in mind for the character (although I’m kinda not digging the whole t-shirt and jeans Superman). Any subscribers to the new 52? What do you like?
